Default starting requirements for a game without antes

I play a game at turning stone with no antes. How should I adjust to this?

Fold almost everything(unless the game is loose/passive).

Play TIGHTER

I don't think actual starting requirements are all that much different than a game with reasonable to low antes though you would tighten up a bit. When I play no-ante games, I am much more quick to release a hand than if I were playing a proportionally low ante game. That is because you generally have less people in the game and since there are no antes there just isn't much of a need to risk a bet.

Is this stud or stud/8?

If it's stud/8, I wouldn't adjust much at all. For high-only stud, you should probably play so tight it hurts. If the game is especially passive, you might limp in with very speculative hands, such as gapped straight draws and small pairs with crappy kickers. Basically, you're looking to catch perfect on fourth street. In a very passive game, however, you can often see fifth and even sixth street for just the bring-in, so the monkeys will let you make you hand more or less for free.

usually these games are limpfests though. The implied odds are high on a speculative hand. Assuming you are talking 1-5 spread (which is all they had when i went to turning stone) you almost always can see 4th for a dollar. If you catch perfect on a speculative hand you will probably trap a lot of people who get tied to their junk and win a big pot. If you whiff you can just bail on 4th to a bet.

The optimal adjustment is to move up to a game with an ante, aka poker.

If it is a loose-weak limpfest, you'll still probably need to make sure you play your speculative hands from late position as expressing even a modicum of starting hand requirements at the lower limits will scare a lot of loosey gooseys out when you enter early after the bring-in. Also, it's always a good idea to limp with a few extra hands here and there for a street or two even if you're not getting worthwhile cards for a long period of time just to help assuage rock perception fears and garner you action when you do get a worthwhile hand.
