Default Bankroll question for SSMTT

I have a question for the esteemed and experienced members of the SSMTT community:

In cash games, it is no great sin to be overrolled, particularly if you are still learning to beat a particular level. For example, if you had a $4000 bankroll, it seems to be better to play at 50NL until you have established success at that level rather than jumping directly into 200NL.

My question for you is this; in terms of bankrolls for SSMTTs, on a $6-700 bankroll, is there a significant enough difference between $1-2 entry tournaments and $5-8 entry tournaments in terms of skill level to justify playing lower at the beginning than I am properly rolled for?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Dude, the $5s and $1s on Stars are close, and I think
the $5s on FT are people who thought it was 5¢.

I'm in a similar boat as you; I'd play maybe 85% ~$1
and the rest, shoot at the $5s and $8s.

Thanks . . . I'll be playing on FT, if that makes any difference.

I think if you have a $6-700 roll, playing the $5-$8 tourneys would be fine. Your skill level would be so screwed up by time you felt comfortable to move up to the $5s after playing hundreds of $1's that it would take a looong time to adjust.

Yes, play $5s, and as you get better, be sure to add a nice cocktail or drugs and liqour into the mix so you can tolerate the play there. gl.

When I see like "smoker420" or whatever, I'm always afraid to double barrel.
