nl50, 88 in 3bet pot... i played this like a fool!
villain is 13/7/2.25 after ~200 hands.
my vpip was ~27 and i had made a PFR in 3 out of the last 4 hands i played this hand really poorly. What would you have done? His betting was so weak i wasn't giving him credit for a real hand. i was hoping AK... Re: nl50, 88 in 3bet pot... i played this like a fool!
you kinda played the middle road on this hand. like you said, you were planning on set-mining the flop, but then you decided to c/r, but you didnt wanna go all out on the c/r so you made a weak bet. you kinda gotta pick a plan of action and stick with it. i think preflop is fine, and since the bet is so weak on the flop id probably c/c, and i check the turn again and fold to basically any decent sized raise. if youre gonna re-raise the flop, grow a sack and make a bigger raise

Re: nl50, 88 in 3bet pot... i played this like a fool!
his weak bet is tricky obviously. sometimes i raise and get a fold, other times it turns out to be too strong a hand but i like to do this in position more than out of position for the obvious reason of action on the turn. rr'ing here builds the pot quickly and forces u to play a weak hand oop so i might not. but sometimes its worth a shot as long as u give up (which u did). for so cheap i might just call (in case its AK/AQ...although it later appears not to be) and see where we're at on the turn...but still folding to any strength.
you didnt play it like a fool...if u had gotten stacked, you would have played it like a fool. |

More and more I play for set value in these situations. It just gets too expensive, too fast when I'm up against an overpair.

I play for set value, you're way behind his reraising range. I think this would be closer w/JJ but I may still play for set value w/JJ.
