Default satelite question

i was just down to three people where 2 ppl get seat. bb was at like 4k. i had 100kish, and other stacks were 60kish and 20kish..

when it got to three handed i was trying to figure out if i should just fold all hands and not play until one other busted or if i should keep shoving.

wondering thoughts on this.. either way seems reasonable i guess, although i guess if the blinds were lower i could keep stealing without shoving and not risk doubling someone.

Actually, I think his question is very interesting. Adanthar's thread mostly addresses big satellites that pay multiple seats and does not well address 2-3 seat satellites IMO.

I think 2-3 seat satellites are by far the hardest to have an optimal strategy b/c in order to get the seat, you almost always have to knock someone out. Even if you are the big stack. You can't just wait around 3 handed. You still likely have less than 40BBs. It is a very tricky question and I think it is very opponent dependent.

Keeping the big stack is what you are trying to achieve.
So try to steal cheaply as possible.

In general avoid getting your stack in at all costs because losing a coin flip endangers your chances.

An awesome way to do this is to push in the BB vs limped SB a few times. SB will start to autofolding any hands he doesn't want to get all in with and boom, you stay at the same stack level forever.

Then as you start folding SB, btn will have to raise to keep the pace, then BB will defend and hopefully get all in vs opponent.

If the blinds are big enough that a few steals in a row increases your stack to the point where losing an all-in still makes you big stack then push frequently.

Lately in these spots, the SB would go AI every time
on my BB...is this some new P5's strategy? I like
the aggro BB move though - when the SB limps after
a few of those, there's your monster hand!
