NL 25: 99 facing a RR on flop..
Villain was 19/6..over only 145 hands. He seemed reasonable while playing.
I'd be curious to know how one plays this versus an unknown. And, I hate these spots.. sidenote: How do I filter on PT for this type of situation? I'm curious how much I've lost. Re: NL 25: 99 facing a RR on flop..
Fold. He's pot-committed, so if you call, then you'll just face a push on any turn. And unless the turn is a 9, you won't like it. So, why wait until you call off $4 more here to fold on the turn 90% of the time?
Another alternative to folding might be to push the flop, but calling is bad. And I think I'd rather fold than push. |

Re: NL 25: 99 facing a RR on flop..
Could he have called pf with A7 or just be raising his flush draw?

Re: NL 25: 99 facing a RR on flop..
Fold. Even if he is raising 7x or a draw, he's committing himself like Albert said. Calling would just be setting yourself up for another tough turn decision when any scare cards come.
Just keep an eye on em and see what he shows up with at SD. Whats his agg? 145 is a decent sample |

This is almost always very strong.

Re: NL 25: 99 facing a RR on flop..
The fact that he's a little short does simplify this somewhat.
What do we do if he's not pot committed?..(typical 100BB stacks).. With what hands would see turn? or 3-bet? I did end up folding but, I find this situation to be fairly common and I'm wondering if where we draw the line ..(assuming villain is unknown) 99 or below; with no FE = Fold ???? 88+ with some FE = Push..?????? I can't even say that I'm folding/calling too much..I just know I'm losing $$$ in these spots. thanks. -Foldem78 |

I can't even say that I'm folding/calling too much..I just know I'm losing $$$ in these spots. [/ QUOTE ] That is because itīs a tough spot. A smallish overpair looks like a hand that might be worth an inital investment, as it can easily be the best hand, but then if you get under fire it starts to look like a bluff catcher. [ QUOTE ] Villain was 19/6..over only 145 hands. He seemed reasonable while playing. [/ QUOTE ] You need to respekt the check-raise then. |

Should you fold if ahead, just to avoid a tough decision? Typically, I play these decisions completely by read. Either I put them on a draw or on monster and play the rest of the hand out based on that read. If villain had showed himself to be a decent player that doesn't get out of line often...I fold here (because I believe I am behind...not because I want to avoid a tough decision). |

Re: NL 25: 99 facing a RR on flop..
is the villian a normal shorty or does he just not reload? If he is a normal shorty with those stats, I would say he is a little weak. I think we can rule out an overpair, because he should have reraised, and probably pocket 77. It sure looks like a set of 2's o 4's, maybe 2 pair or a combo draw, but the lack of pushing after a c/r makes me think this is a set or two pair. I fold against this villian, but against a normal aggro shorty I am pushing my overpair all day; this seems to be a good +EV, but the variance is a bitch.

Re: NL 25: 99 facing a RR on flop..
with normal stacks, I am folding this again a normal villian. If someone is C/R I always figure they have TPTK beat or a great combo draw, and I am not sure what I beat with this overpair.
