Default Big Banks- Dogs or Opportunities

After Bank of America missed analysts' earnings expectations today (third-quarter profits down 32 percent)it (BAC) Washington Mutual (WU), Citigroup (C) and others are at or near 52 week lows.

Anyone see value here or expect further dips as more data unfolds regarding the "credit crisis."

Bleh, I went out of my area and speculated on some smaller US banks with the strong Canadian Dollar gaining momentum and receiving some north of the border investments. Perhaps i was a little quick on the bail out trigger but I was slow and steadily getting smoked and just took the loss (wasnt keen on avg'ing down chasing the losses either).

IMO they havent corrected themselves yet with all the mess and misinvestment correlated with subprime, but i'm out of my element and just doing more speculating when talking about U.S banks.

I like the big banks in a month or two. They're getting hit now, but with such large infrastructure throughout the country and diversification in their products, I see them rebounding nicely.
