Re: passive QQ in 650 PCA sat
since this is a sat and they are prolly playing accordingly I think you need to find a fold somewhere.

Don't mean to single out adanthar, but these posts are retarded. This forum is about what specific plays to make on specific streets in poker hands. Vague answers like "find a fold somewhere" are about as helpful as "I'd rather have xx here." I like OP's play. |

Re: passive QQ in 650 PCA sat
noah, when I say that (rarely) it's because I think "fold flop/fold turn/fold river" are about equal. well, not the river in this case, I guess - I don't think you're good but having gotten there, you disagree with me enough that you have to call. but I'm pretty indifferent between check/call, c/f and just an outright flop c/f.
(obviously don't try this in a real donkament.) |

Re: passive QQ in 650 PCA sat
Adanthar,
Just to stir things up so I can maybe learn something... He raised preflop and got checked to on the flop. He made a very standard C-Bet. I don't see how that series of events narrows his preflop range. Is 99+,AQ a reasonable range for him? If so, we're beating 19, losing to 24, chopping 2 (AcQc,QQ). 19/45 = 42% Based on his bet size, bluff > 40% = call. On the turn, beating 21, losing to 18, chopping 1 21/40 = 52.5% Bluff > 29% = call. 29% bluff = 11.5 hands bluffing. Convincing me he'd bet his whole range on the flop is pretty easy. Convincing me he'd two barrel bluff half the hands we're beating on the turn is a lot harder. -A lot of his bluff hands have draws on the turn, and can take a free card. -A lot of his bluff hands have some showdown value. -The K turn is kind of an ugly card to bluff. What folds that called the flop? If he'd bet more, a SD/FD might fold. So can you elaborate on why you think those two spots are about equal? Thanks. Also, is this really late enough that the SAT part plays a big a factor? BB is only 200. g-p, Hard for me not to be a little results oriented, but he's betting so tiny on the turn, hard to block for less than he'd bet. And his range is pretty polarized, so give him a chance to bluff. -Stumpy |

Re: passive QQ in 650 PCA sat
I wrote a blog post about this.
It's basically because your goals in a sat are different and you are so deep/have such a high chance of making it to the bubble with a nice stack that, if you play passively PF, it's more optimal to give up on small pots in questionable situations. |
