AJo vs TAG
Villain is a decent TAG from what I've seen so far.
I raise AJo UTG+1, folded to villain who 3bets in HJ, folded to me, I call. Flop: J85r c/r the flop, or wa/wb? |

Re: AJo vs TAG
I'd bet it. I want to make sure he doesn't check the flop behind and find out where I'm at. If raised, call, check out the turn and play poker. The rest is read dependent. If I don't get any more information and the turn and river brick I'd call a river bet.
And yeah, you're wa/wb, we know that if the threebettor is a TAG. But an ace is very, very likely good, so... You've got that going for you, which is nice. |

I checkraise the flop. [/ QUOTE ] I don't disagree with this. I would like to hear your why you think this is better than bet/call. |

Re: AJo vs TAG
Well, its headsup, and he is going to bet the flop.
If I checkraise the flop, I have the initiative, and it my play on the turn, is to bet out, and then decide where to go. If I bet/call, then he has the initiative, and I might be giving his 6-9 outs (including backdoor draws) a freecard on the turn that I didn't want to. If I checkraise, and he calls, and then raises me on the turn, I can lay it down against many opponents at a cost less than if I bet/call, c/c, c/c. So, I think that you win more when you are ahead, and you also can lose less when you are behind by checkraising here. I also checkraise the flop if I have a monster, and sometimes on a bluff, so to be as unreadable as possible, I think that I need to checkraise the flop with medium values. |

Re: AJo vs TAG
Thanks Kit - nice memory!
FWIW my plan for this hand was to play wa/wb. So I called the flop. Turn: A Things suddenly change a bit. I check, he bets, I raise, he INSTA-3bets. I call, and then call a blank river. He rolls AK and MHIG. Although I may lose less by taking the c/r fold to turn raise line, I think I win a lot less too. |
