Default Table Selection 1/2

Lately at alot of the tables I'm at for 1/2, if I raise UTG or even MP it folds all around quite frequently. Is this a bad sign of a table that is too tight, or does this happen often at 1/2. I'm picking my tables based on highest avg pot.

1/2 is definitely tighter than .5/1 but I wouldn't say this is pandemic for 1/2 tables. I personally like small avg. pots in that I usually find more passive opponents. Also realize that the sample size used to display the avg. pot size is probably quite small so it is most likely not an accurate indicator of table type.

I'm sure the table is just fine. Raise more often and make more money.

I tend to look more at who is at the table, when selecting tables at 1/2. Big average pots are nice, but I'd choose a table with a couple of known terrible players first. Besides, unless you ask, then you don't know over how many hands these table stats are averaged.

I also find that the pots that I'm involved in are usually somewhat higher than the table average.

Someday I'm going to figure a way to put VPIP, PFR, aggression... all the stats together to get an "effective table pot average".

Some of the known bonus whoring sites I find are definitely tight. Absolute, Pokerroom, BET365 etc. Party, Paradise, Pacific etc are generally not as tight.

Don't sit at high average pot tables. The fill up with rocks and tags quickly. Instead, learn HUSH play and sit and empty tables. Letting the fish come to you is a beautiful thing.
