Default 50NL -- floating then bluffing

Full Tilt No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (6 handed) Full Tilt Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

CO ($83.80)
Hero ($52.25)
SB ($41.30)
BB ($91.25)
UTG ($50.65)
MP ($38.10)

Preflop: Hero is Button with 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
UTG raises to $2, 2 folds, Hero calls $2, 2 folds.

Flop: ($4.75) 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
UTG bets $3, Hero calls $3.

Turn: ($10.75) 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
UTG bets $7, Hero raises to $18, UTG really takes his time....

Final Pot: $24.75

Villain seemed normally decent. 20/15/2.5. Because villain is decent, I feel we can really make him put his better hand away for us, as he's bet/folding turns like this really often.

My raise size is really debatable, in fact, I think it's a mistake. Let me know what you think.

When you float, it's because you don't think villain doesn't have much. When he fires turn, it's really unlikely that he has absolute air. We're only looking to bluff when he checks to us, not when he fires again on a scary turn.

Also, as far as sizing goes, it's perfect IMO. It looks like you want a call, and it picks up the pot just as much as 21 does but saves you 6bb when he calls.

You need to bet more. Giving him odds with one spade + outs to a boat.

Those are the two arguments that I am dithering over as to the bet size. Do I want it to look like I want a call? or do I want to price out a high spade?

You dont want to look like you want FE but you dont want him to talk hiself into calling with 10 outs or whatever he may have. I'd make it around standard $25. But you look like a total tool if he pushes regardless of you betsizing

And then the river -- if it blanked, a push would probably win me the pot if there's not spade if he calls. Gut check time, of course, but still....

I'm beating AK with a spade, though, and checking behind ftw would be okay in many cases too. Aaargh.

I was just realizing how often I'm telling people to bet/fold in villain's spot, and thinking that against non-spewy villains we're seeing a lot of folds.

25 looks like way too much. 18 may be too little, but 25 is huge.

Thac with all the respect, your betsizes are way too small judging from you posts. I don't like milking people, if I bet I bet hard.

one important point is that if he calls and the river blanks its a great spot for a bluff so you should try and leave room for that depending on your stack size.
