Default $11 45man on FTP (6min levels) A9 in SB after a recent squeeze

I already squuezed when I was SS'ed earlier. BB has been fairly tight but I believe his range is wide. Shoving 22 BBs is out of question. Standard raise might get a call and I would rather not play this hand OOP. Maybe a raise to 500 would be optimal?

You are getting 5 to 1 to call, so the call is not that bad. I personally like to get about 7 to 1 before I make calls of this nature, however, I don't fault your play at all.

I would not raise from SB with this hand.

I would play as is, call and fold to push.

The open limp from the button and the BBs stack size probably would have frozen me enough to just call here. Getting less than 1.25:1 (1270 pot, 970 to hero) you need like 45% equity to call here. Just comes down to reads, I would lean towards calling, but unless he's doing this with just about anything you're not going to have over 50% equity. Losing this hand cripples us so much that I could really see folding, although I think cEV wise it's a call.

My feeling was us limping and previously my playing aggressive from SB made me think he was pushing wide (although he had a tight image). The button limper did that constantly, so nothing new there, although it always freezes me a bit when they limp on the button esp. cause last time I shoved on him in this same exact spot. I think the 1.3/1 on the money gave me odds to call EV wise, although I liked my seat with passive players around me so I didnt mind playing on.

I agree with Dunkman here (welcome back, BTW, you've been gone a while). Just to add that in terms of reads, you're breaking even if you think BB is pushing 15% or more of hands here, so you can adjust your play around that.

equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 45.534% 43.43% 02.11% 517541004 25118832.00 { A9s }
Hand 1: 54.466% 52.36% 02.11% 623984916 25118832.00 { 77+, A7s+, K9s+, QTs+, JTs, ATo+, KTo+, QJo }

I'm a SNG player slowly moving into MTTs as I get better rolled, so I was hoping some of you would have a comment on this.

In my experience with the lower buyins it seems alot of mediocre players will limp in on the button with hands they deem good enough to play but 'scary' to raise with. Something like the lower 1/3rd of hands a decent player would throw in a 2.5bb raise with.

I won't push with air in this situation, but I've always taken down the binds in spots like this. But my background is mostly <$10 SNG and I keep a tight image. (I've been a lurker quite a while, I've a good number of games under my belt.)

So what I'm wondering is how well this observation would hold true for MTTs and how high? In the higher buyins do people ever open limp on the button?

Thanks everyone. I love this site! Even though I'm a habitual lurker.
