Default Finding Work in the US

Just wondering if anyone has good sources for finding work in the United States (online job banks, magazines, etc) primarily, San Francisco, but other places as well.

Details:
me and my friend will be graduating soon from University and hate the city we currently live in.
We intend on heading South of the border and for a nicer environment.

-22 year old New Grad
-Mechanical Engineering
-or Business Degree

Looking to get out of Canada!

I'm kinda stuck on where to look.
Workopolis doesn't seem to have a lot of jobs located in the United States, and all the jobs they post on my campus are for Canada.

Thanks!

monster.com is a good way to find what staffing agencies are in the area you want to move to.

You can't get a job unless you have a Visa or Work Permit or Green card, and I've heard there's a 3 year waiting list unless you're in a special category. I assume you've looked all this up?

You just can't come to USA and get a job ya know, that's called "illegal immigration"

If he finds an empolyer in the US in need of his services, and are unable to find any american or person with a work permit qualified to fill that position wouldnt that speed up things?

Only if the employer is willing to go through a more detailed process in order to get the employee into the USA. Most employers can't be bothered, and they have to have a legitimate reason that gets investigated.

For example, I own a business and tried to help a Canadian (Fellknight) get a Visa, but was unable to as I didn't need a position filled that I can't find workers for in the USA.

The "special" categories I was referring to are like the following, a person who's received a Noble Peace Prize or a person who has a Master's Degree in a specific field and has published writings in his/her field, etc etc.

Things like that.

Not sure how serious you were, but as a Canadian working in the States I hear this from time-to-time. Its a pretty good clue of someone being retarded.

jj,

i mostly was angry at the crappy thread, not so much with the canadian immigrant thing. if the dollar continues to die of AIDS, i would probably want to come to your country too.

You're living in a world class city where the losers at Tim Horton's make $16/hr and you want to move?

Who moves FROM Calgary?

Weird.
