NL5, A2 on A2J, call 4 bet?
I limp in SB with A2 in multiway. Flop is A2J with 2 clubs and I have no club. I bet .10, UTG+1 raises to .30, I raise to .60 now we are hdsup, he reraises to 1.35. He has about additional 3.50 left behind and I have him covered.
His PT was green, orange, green, though I hadn't too many hands on him and didn't know anything else about him. I figured my A2 was no good if he is putting in the 4th bet, so I folded. I haven't played much at this level, so I was wondering if I was giving too much respect. |

How many players to the flop? Did UTG limp?

Re: NL5, A2 on A2J, call 4 bet?
Your main problem here is the minrasie to .6, it doesnt acomplish anything. It looks very weak and your opponent could of realised this which is why he repops you. Raise to $1 and then think about it if he re raises.
As played, In an unraised pot, the only handa we are worried about here is AJ or possibly 22, but your opponents will still raise these hands some of the time. There are a ton of draws here so i try and get it in on flop. raise to $5 and call a push. |

Re: NL5, A2 on A2J, call 4 bet?
1) probably not the best hand to complete in SB. The A is easily dominated by other Aces and even a straight can be dangerous if someone has the higher end.
2) Since you did complete, the flop is huge for you. I'm not going crazy and raising 5x the pot but I'll bet it to $0.30 to price out the draws. I like your reraise- but I'm raising to a $1 here. I wouldn't worry about AJ unless dude is very passive and doesn't raise PF. A set of 2s could be scary but all four 2s are out. I'd push him here. Get him off his top pair. |

Re: NL5, A2 on A2J, call 4 bet?
I don't have a lot of experience with NL cash because I mostly play tournaments, but when I did play cash, I was playing 25NL and treading water. I decided to drop down, but the 10NL games on Stars didn't look so hot from their stats, so I dropped down to 5NL because I read a thread in the Theory forum where this guy claimed he was winning 5 buyins an hour playing there.
In the 25NL, I think the 4th bet would indicate that I was up against a better hand, such as a set or AJ. I just wondered if the 4th bet on 5NL should be given the same respect. I know my raise to .60 was too small, but after I was reraised, I realized that the worst hand I could be facing would be AK or AQ, hands which could counterfeit me. I didn't think that calling would be a good idea. So I figured I was in a raise allin or fold situation. |

Again villain might not be showing strength when he 4bets you, he might just be picking up on your weakness.
AK or AQ could counterfeit you, but they only have 6 and then 9 outs to do so. Basically to stop draws and this hands drawing for free a push here is essential. I mean what more do you want when you play A2?! |
