Default do you count your change?

I was getting coffee earlier today, and the total was 3.03
Unfortunantly i didnt have 3 cents so i gave the guy 4 dollars. I noticed that he was having a really hard time trying to figure out the 97 cents change. He kept grabbing coins and putting them back and really thinking hard. Finally he gave me a handfull of change and i walked out of the shop.
I almost never count coin change im given. I either throw it in my pocket or in the change bin in my car. but this time i was just curious after it took him so long to figure out the change to see if he got it right. I really didnt care if it was the right amount so i didnt count it in front of him. I waited till i was in my car, counted the 96 cents he gave me and drove away. So after all of that thinking he still got it wrong.
Anyway, i was just curious how many of you actually count the coin change you get from purchases. I have to say this is the first time i have done it in quite some time

this guy has been shorting every single customer one cent and then taking that from the register at the end of each shift.

you make think that he is a dimwit for taking a long time and messing up, but after twenty years of taking a penny from every customer, he's just two months away from retiring forever to a life of luxury.

Now who feels dumb?

I never count change. One acception: if a guy like this really struggles, I might count it just to get a cheap chuckle. Probably not though.

Never count. Throw in Crowne Royale bag and cash out via coinstar (HELLO RAKE) like once or twice a year.
