Playing Flopped set oop aganst preflop raiser $11+1 UB bounty
Villian is 19/11 over 40ish hands
Ultimate Bet No Limit Holdem Tournament Blinds: t30./t60. 10 players Converter Stack sizes: UTG: t2305 UTG+1: t5350 UTG+2: t2565 MP1: t8220 MP2: t6920 MP3: t4115 CO: t1065 Button: t2635 SB: t4040 Hero: t3090 Pre-flop: (10 players) Hero is BB with 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 3 folds, MP1 raises to t120, 5 folds, Hero calls t60 (pot was t210). Flop: 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (t270, 2 players) Hero ?? Wondering how to proceed on a board with this many draws on it. Fairly certain he is CB this flop with just about anything he opened with so a check raise isn't out of the question. I played this horribly I will advance the hand after suggestions for the flop. |

Re: Playing Flopped set oop aganst preflop raiser $11+1 UB bounty
I am probably leading with a bet of 220 mainly because our opponent will not be able to take a free card and the fact that betting widens our range. If we c/r he can put us on something like two overs and a flush draw or a set. However, if we lead we are representing hands like A5, A8, A4, 67, and may encourage a raise from a PP like 99+, and maybe something like AK, AQ, or AJ with a spade in their hands.

Re: Playing Flopped set oop aganst preflop raiser $11+1 UB bounty
The nice part of bet/3 bet all in is most villains won't fold an over pair, they never get to take a free card, and your hand can look like a draw.
So i lead like 220 hoping to get raised. |

Re: Playing Flopped set oop aganst preflop raiser $11+1 UB bounty
Looking back at the hand I think raising would have been my best play also which isn't what actually happened. I'm certain I played this hand in the worst way I could have. This hand was the last before the first break and I think I would have rather busted going in with my set then come out with the stack I was left with when this was over...
Flop: 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (t270, 2 players) Hero checks, MP1 bets t135, Hero calls t135 (pot was t405). Turn: 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (t540, 2 players) Hero checks, MP1 bets t300, Hero raises to t600, MP1 calls t300 (pot was t1440). River: 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (t1740, 2 players) Hero bets t350, MP1 raises to t950, Hero calls t600 (pot was t3040). Results: Final pot: t3640 Pretty sure I made mistakes on every street except preflop. I think check calling the flop is horrible not sure why I did it, and certainly if I am going to C/R the turn I probably should have shoved. I really should have check folded the river as played but instead payed off... |

Yes, you definitely couldn't have played the hand any worse. But, welcome to 2+2. Read and post a lot here, and you'll see your game take some steps forward. Buy some books, read them and re-read them. When you've grasped the concepts and feel comfortable with your own style, sign up for PXF and watch the videos stickied atop of this forum. You'll really learn a lot by watching others play...

Re: Playing Flopped set oop aganst preflop raiser $11+1 UB bounty
To answer your question, I have no idea what I was thinking. Realizing I should have played it completely differently is why I posted it here. I knew a swarm of holy god you play bad was coming but I knew that I needed to play it completely different the next time around. So next time I will lead the flop and go from there. I certainly needed to learn from the mistakes I made on this hand...

Re: Playing Flopped set oop aganst preflop raiser $11+1 UB bounty
I smooth called against a PSB with a set of sixes three days ago on a 6 7 2 board. When I didn't stack off QQ by the end of the hand because the next two cards were 9 9, I almost got up and left the tournament. Because I felt like I didn't deserve to play.
