Default Respect for Zock\'n\'Rock

I give Zock'n'Rock tons of respect for showing the class that he did in the WCOOP Shootout Final table. During heads up play his opponent disconnected, and he had the class to request that the tournament be paused and waited 20 minutes for the player to reconnect.

That is a tough situation for anyone to be in, and especially difficult if 26k means something. I know a lot of people think that what he did was what he SHOULD have done. I totally disagree with those people. If he played every hand, I honestly would not lose a lot of respect for him as a poker player. I truly believe that the majority of people in his situation would play every hand, and of course, the more the 26k means to the person, the more likely he/she is to keep playing.

If you put yourself in his position, you are tired after playing for 12+ hours, and now, you have to wait 20 minutes for this person, whom you don't know, to reconnect. Lyerly disconnected. It's not Zock'n'Rock's fault. He can't do anything about it. Given the rules of the game, he has every right to blind Lyerly out.

Let me pose a similar situation. You are playing in a brick and mortar casino MTT. Your opponent checks to you on the turn and check raises you all-in. You quickly call, say you have the nut straight, and turn it over. He says, "Nice hand, I have a set and throws it in the muck pile." He then realizes there is one card to come, and tries to get his cards out of the muck. You have the option of allowing this (as no one will object to having the stupid player win and get more chips), or you can have the tournament director come over and declare the hand dead. Given the rules of the game, his hand is dead and you have every right to have it declared so. Are you going to be generous and let him have his hand back? Most people won't.

So, I tip my hat to Zock'n'Rock for showing class and doing something that he did not have to and was in no way obligated to. IMO, Lyerly should be generous and ship him some $$$ for the class that he showed. As far as EV goes, imo Zock'n'Rock gave up over 20k of EV here, but in return he earns extra respect from me. Is that worth 20k+? You decide.

If you ship me even $1, you don't have to respect me, I'll take it.
