5/10 QQ vs. Shortstack
8 players LIVE NLHE
Hero has a Tight/Weak image. Villan is a very good, very tight shortstack player. His line in this hand is typical for him. effective stacks are 350ish HERO raises QhQc UTG 30.00, all folds to Villan who calls on Button. Blinds fold. FLOP K86 (2 spades) POT = 70.00 Hero Bets 55.00, Villan Shoves for 320. Hero calls. Was this played badly? |

Re: 5/10 QQ vs. Shortstack
hm i think it depends on how he play hands here that have you beat
if he only overbet pushes draws your call is good but if he would play 66 the same way... |

Re: 5/10 QQ vs. Shortstack
Jeeves,
In this post and your other one, you seem determined to always c-bet. This needs to be refined. One time, you need to c/r big. Either as a bluff or value but you need to do it. This, and this alone will take the heat off you dramatically when you have a big PF hand and the flop doesn't come as friendly as you would like it. It will also help with the "weak" image. Lastly, understand why you are taking the actions you are taking. It is paramount that you are able to decipher what your bet means to you and what it means to your opponent/s. Betting or checking without a plan for the rest of the hand or even street for that matter is just bad poker. If you are not sure why you are making certain bets, raises, calls, or even laydowns then you cannot possibly be thinking down the line which in turn makes hand reading extremely difficult. I bring this up often but I will say it once again. Understand the motives behind your actions. Poker is not played in a vacuum. Sure their are default lines that are often discussed on these boards but in reality (and especially live) there are so many variables that come into play that often times bizarre lines can't be faulted IF they are for the purpose of contriving +EV plays down the road. With QQ on a K86 two tone board, I wouldn't fault you for b/3b, c/c, b/c, or even b/f. Depending upon the multitude of crap that has been going on with you, your opponent, and the both, any one of those lines may be correct at that given moment. Understand your motives and your line becomes clearer and more concise. This board is a perfect example of 'you shouldn't be betting without a plan'..... Good luck. |

Re: 5/10 QQ vs. Shortstack
Thanks for the advice all. Good STuff...
About the "plan" etc; My plan was to bet/call. I knew villain would push if he hit anything, even AQ, 99,TT, & any flush draw. Knowing the above, is calling a huge leak? |
