Definitely agreed. One of the things I liked about the WSOPE was that, for their HORSE event, the first level was 150-300 with 10k starting chips, which solved the problem frequently found in limit tournaments of the first level or so being almost completely redundant.
I plan to see what the late registration rules are and work out how much of the early play I can manage to miss.
