check calls and expects villain to slow down a ton on the turn.

dont really know thst i lovr it, but probably err on the side of check call and see. has villain been very aggro? shown down any 2 or 3 barrels with air/draws?

I would call this and reevaluate on the turn. If he checks then you shove.

Does everyone think flat calling is better than checkraising with pair + gutshot + backdoor?

I prolly call as well, feels like we have to much SD to CR here and getting 3 bet is pretty annoying.

You are 38% against an overpair, so why not checkraise with the idea of getting the money in if villain still wants to play?

I don't think getting it in is that bad, but I think check/call is slightly better. That said in the heat of the moment I will sometimes say 'meh' and go with it.

Results. I could have tried to check it down on the turn. The turn card is bad for me, as I don't make a flush draw and lose 3 outs against an overpair. Thought I might still have FE and villain probably gets the money in if I check and he is ahead.

I am not likely to fold JJ (or QQ+ or a set), but I probably get him to fold most small pps. Of course, 55 and 77 give him a gutshot. Also, I don't get bluffed out or drawn out on if I am a ahead.

My read was that villain was playing solidly due to the bubble. I thought he probably was raising a real hand preflop, but he might fold to pressure.

Villain typed "wow", "just wow" after winning the hand, but maye he didn't see that I was pushing a fairly decent draw with the pair.

In the moment, I play the flop exactly the same and make a gay check/fold after the board pairs.

Against a good player, I'm check/calling more often, though.
