I need your opinion MTTc
Hi all,
I'm going to an University, and the my study program, together with a pokersite, hosted a online freeroll for all the students on campus. Fortunately, there were not more than 250 or so who started. I usually don't play in freerolls, but 1. was a tempting prize. A pokerweekend in Tallin(Estonia(?)), and buyin in two large live tournaments there. Rest of the prizes was as follows: 1. Weekend in Tallin 2. 162$ Tournament ticket 3. 162$ Tournament ticket 4-10. 30$ For me, only 1. place was worth winning, and it wasn't even close. I didn't care a bit about 2. and 3., as I guess most of you agree with. The tournament played on, and the people in it was obviously terrible. We got to the FT, and got down to 4-handed. Stacks were as follows: 1. 100k 2. 60k 3. 50k 4. 8k The BB was 2k, and I was third in chips with 50k. As I said, I played to win, and in a BvB against the CL, I lost with KJs<AKs. Okay, standard. Here's the issue: The shortstacked soon busted 3rd, getting his much wanted ticket(or so he thought), and 1. and 2. was settled. The next day the guy who was responsible for the tournament sent a mail, saying that unfortunately, there was a couple of guys who wasn't supposed to play in the tournament, who didn't go to the University, who finished 1. and 2. They wouldn't get any prize, and 3.(the shortstack) would get 1.! I jumped up to 2. place... What really sucks about this, is that if I knew this, I could gurantee myself to outlast the shortstack when 4-handed, hence I would win the trip. At the point, I had obviously no chance in knowning this, and I played to win it. What do you guys think is most fair in this situation? Thank you for your opinions.
