I had no reads on the player. But when he re-raised me PF i think he had a high pocket pair AA, KK, QQ, JJ or AK like he had. I was calling to hit a set on the flop. I figured I'd check-raise to trap a pocket pair or scare off a potential flush draw.

I need advice on how to play such a scary flop in the future.

Welcome to the forum.

Please convert your hands and edit out the results, this will help you get better replys. You can find hand converters in one of the stickys.

As for the hand in question; I think preflop is marginal. You are oop and you likely do not have correct set odds. Flop play is fine.

[/ QUOTE ]If you're just calling for a set you're only getting 9.63:1 on your call if he stacks off all the time which isn't enough.

The hand is fine postflop. c/r all day.

1) Welcome
2) Please convert and hide results
3) Fold to the reraise PF- you aren't getting good enough odds for a set
4) In reraised pot, go broke all day long on this flop

i see a general consensus that i should fold PF. would it be alright to call if i had 100bb in front of me then?

If you would ve had 100 BB and, as important, villain too, the call would still be very marginal but more reasonable...

Not set value - and I HATE the check raise. As I have said before - people used this move way to often. bet you set and if he raises PUSH. Less than 1% to flop a flush. You should have folded PF, but you also should have bet the flop. As it turns out your play post flop was fine and you got unlucky.
