Against a truly solid player, you have to let this go. At best, you're up against another AK.

Tough spot here. I might be inclined to call because:

1) He could be trying to resteal with Ax, against which you are a huge favorite.
2) If he has AA or KK, I think he would make a reraise to 750-900 or so to get more value.
3) If he has JJ or QQ (more likely than KK or AA), you are getting correct pot odds (just barely).

Also, what has your table image been? If you have been raising often, either because you are stealing or have gotten good hands, he is more likely to be restealing with a hand you are ahead of.

a winning regular doesn't resteal with Ax against an UTG raise.
Fold.

So a solid player would push KK and AA rather than making a normal reraise?

Folding is not a bad play here. I just think you are more likely to be up against JJ, QQ, AK.

Yeah, I'm with you. Something smells funny here with that bet size. I mean if villain has TT,JJ, or QQ he has to figure he usually only gets called if he's beat and if he has KK or AA why is he betting so much.

I would probably call just to satisfy my curiousity then make a note.

Possibly. We raised UTG and he probably knows we're decent (?) So he should figure we have a real hand and reraising less looks like AA/KK.

And without doing the math, if his range were just JJ-QQ, AK, isn't this a fold?

Bottom line for me: would he do this with AQ? If so, then calling is probably fine.
