Default Petraeus testimony, Democrats go too far questioning his integrity?

Gen. David Petraeus is being skerwered right now on C-span. You should be watching this.

The first thing the general said was that this is his own report and he did not allow the pentagon or the white house to participate in writing it. It is his own work.

What a shock, we're only 6 months from being able to draw down. Just like we have been for the last 6 years.

Yes, the Dems are scum on this. Before he opened his mouth they basically said "We're not going to believe a word you say." [censored].

No, there was no skewering yet, and he may have deflated some of the prepared attacks by reporting some draw downs in Dec and more in the spring.

Your right everything he says should be accepted as gospel because after all he is a General of the United States Army.

BTW, He has his own agenda. If he says the Surge is failing etc he might as well say "I suck at my job please fire me."

Wrong. There isnt a chance in hell he would be fired for an honest assessment of the situation that disagrees with the admin He received unanimous support when he was appointed, and told to report back. If he has an agenda and his report can't be trusted, dont ask for it in the first place.

The reality is they didnt think the surge would improve anything, they were wrong, they don't like the message so he's a liar. (If they take your approach, which they havent yet)

Edit: But then that disgrace to humanity Chuck Schumer hasnt weighed in yet.

The Dems weren't the ones asking for Petraeus's opinion, the GOP was. They've been pushing him for the last 6 months as the be all-end all opinion on what's happening in Iraq when they knew he'd say exactly what they wanted him to say because its in his own self interest and its what his Commander-in-Chief wants him to say.

Its not about him agreeing with the Admin, it is about him making a statement about his competence as a soldier. If he says the surge isnt working that reflects badly on his leadership. He is just like a CEO being bullish about his companies prospects to the shareholders.
