Re: Can Luck Be Removed From the Game?
Don't play this game online, the bots would crush it.

Re: Can Luck Be Removed From the Game?
This is a horrible idea. The luck factor is what keeps the games good in the first place. And, yes, the bots would probably crush it.

Re: Can Luck Be Removed From the Game?
This would severely distort the correct decisions, as was pointed out elsewhere. While this scoring system would take some (but far from all) of the luck out of the game, it would no longer reward correct folds or bluffs, as it would reward anyone who goes to showdown.

Re: Can Luck Be Removed From the Game?
This is just a plain different game. I doubt it would appeal to a large enough audience (thankfully) to matter. As for the claims that its taking the luck out of poker, its like taking the basket out of a basketball game. Its not basketball anymore.
Without luck there would be no reward for bad play. And without any reward, I think that the fish population would cease to play. This is basically a math test and a piss poor player is going to get a report card that says WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! three times on every hand. Terrible. And as far as its relation to NL, it could never be used as an effective training tool as the proper plays in a game like this will bear no resemblance to correct play in NL. If the reward per street is independent, it will grotesquely skew the action. One of the reasons you fold in NL is not becasue of the current bet but because of the stack behind it and the implications for the next street or streets. I think it would make proper strategy "more cally" but I'm not going devote the time to go figure that out, as i can't see this game as part of my future. |
