Default Law vs Numbers

Finally decided to make a post...after quite a long time of reading and researching as poker strengthened its hold on my time. Ironic then that this post will have little to do with poker, and much to do with life's big decisions. There are plenty of individuals around these forums that have the insight and, some, the experience, to aid me greatly in solidifying my thoughts about this, humbly proclaimed, somewhat interesting situation.

Graduated a year ago double majoring in psychology and pre-law. Goals were fulfilled better then I hoped when I was offered full scholarships to a few schools in the California and Florida areas, as being in the Great North has stripped me of whatever wintery patience I ever had.

I took the time off anyway, deferred acceptances, and will now be entering a second year away from formal academia. At first I convined myself it was to "save up some money", now I am realizing there's more to it.

I have an undeniable likeness for numbers. Always enjoyed problems. On top of this it appears I possess at least a moderate gift for working with them. The required entry level statistics course had me achieve the highest mark in the school against all others taking the course that year. Not a terribly arduous feat considering it's mainly social science students anyway, just painting a picture that I believe will help those interested in giving their two cents about the upcoming question form a necessary opinion about me etc.

After years of wanting to go to law school, with a moderate interest in the law, a strong interest in living a comfortable life and not having to worry about money, to offer my future family freedom of mind and pursuit, it appears I am becoming ever more drawn to a potential career in mathematics. What? I don't quite know, weird that I never even really looked into it. I am aware of the big few, quants, actuaries, those in the financial sector etc. There are definately options.

This is geared more towards those who work in those fields then. I know there are some gifted, and brilliant people here, who could potentially pass on some great insight. This is all I humbly desire. Shouldn't expect much, I don't post, don't offer anything to anyone here. Just thought I'd throw it out there, in case anyway cared to throw their opinion out.

I am 23, will be starting law school at 24 then. Is it justifiable, to turn down a full scholarship to law school now, to start over, take math in undergrad, and go down that route, which may leave me more intellectually fulfilled as I prefer numbers over words? Or is it best to finish this route which has been in front of me for so long. And, when I graduate, I will still be 27 with no academic debt, although there will probably be some debt for living expenses...depends how much of my time I devote to actually playing poker this year and saving up. I am currently unemployed as I refuse to embark on a generic entry level administrative position paying somber wages when I can satisfy both my hunger for numbers and psychology earning more money from the comfort of my own home playing poker...although I'd rather teach it then play it...anyway though, at that point after graduating, I can then try my hand at working in the legal field, or take the mathematical path. Of course, there are possible combinations. IP law a moderate contender, which would require more science courses. Perhaps a JD/MBA that I customize to be geared towards mathematics and financial "hard-coding".

I'm really quite confused, and just wanna point out none of this is meant to come off as pompous, self-indulgent, I'm really not here to try to "show off" or anything negative. I hesitated enough as it is to even post. I merely would like to present my situation in hopes of picking some brains that are worthwhile. I understand if no one cares to oblige, just thought I'd throw it out there. Even one piece of information, one opinion, could give me something more to think about.

Thanks for reading.
