Default Can i call a nit\'s 3-bet purely for set value?

Ok so everything points to him having a super tight range here. He's 19/12/2 and i (taggy, havent been out of line) opened utg so i have a fairly tight range as well obv. So if this is QQ+ and AK, maybe even tighter than that, can i profitably call with any pp for set value here? Sorry i suck at poker maths and can't do any calculations myself

As a side note, when he checks back the flop, doesn't he have AK like always? Worth a stab?

If he has AK he's probably not going to bet, so just try and see a showdown.

No, you can't call just for set value here OOP. If you had a read that he just gives up with AK UI or something then it would be ok, with the info you have its a fold pf.

If i can't call with 55 here pf then what's my cut off point for calling? 22 and 99 seem pretty damn similar to me...

99 beats A7s, 88, 77 .. and 22 doesn't. 99 has a much better show down value than 22.

I would fold probably anything worse than TT preflop against this player, and most smallish mid pairs vs anybody who is solid.

In position I'll make some looser calls but still folding typically. Here OOP I think you should really fold preflop though, and it's way too optimistic to think you can play this profitably.

ok, thanks. would it still be a fold if (hypothetically) we knew range was AA and KK, and he almost always stacked off postflop?

Still wouldn't (although it's def tempting). We're like 8.5-1 to flop a set and don't win every time we flop a set (set over set happens, getting 2 outed, runner runner, etc), plus sometimes when he has KK the flop comes Axx with our set and we don't get paid. So yeah I fold even if he only has AA/KK.
