I would raise this preflop to about 0,75; limps from the CO and button mean more often then not a very weak hand (unless I had a read that the CO likes to limp strong hands). As played I totally agree with your line, maybe a little more on the flop to bad if he has KQ or 33... You will see JT, AT, hell even A3 here.

AJ is an awkward hand especially multiway, so you need to limit the field or take it down pre flop. Thus a PF raise is needed.
