CAZ 40-80 Hand 3
Middle of the day, mostly regulars.
UTG raises. He is very solid, aggressive, smart player whom I respect. UTG+1 3-bets (this is an unthinking LAG who will 3bet a large range of hands). I am in the BB with 99. Action? |

I turbo fold unless they'll both give you a sick amount of action post-flop if you hit.

Re: CAZ 40-80 Hand 3
The UTG will play solid and not get crazy/out of line. The UTG+1 will bet/raise an unimproved pair of deuces or A-rag the same way as if he had AA the whole way.
I ended up flat-calling, although I debated capping. Flop: Td4c2h. Action? |

Re: CAZ 40-80 Hand 3
Preflop depends on what range of hands you put UTG on. Does he have very tight raising standards meaning he has A big pair or AK...or will he raise with mid pocket pairs, KQ, KJs, A9s, etc. If he has the looser range I would call(I think I would prefer to see if he caps here rather than capping myself. If he has the tight range I fold. If this was more of a steal situation I would cap(Assuming the players entered from late position).
As played, I would check-raise and try to isolate myself against UTG+1 or find out pretty quick where you stand against UTG. If you do get heads up against UTG+1 plan on going to showdown. |

Re: CAZ 40-80 Hand 3
I called primarily to see if UTG would cap; he didn't.
I did lead out on the flop to put the most pressure on UTG and to see if he raised, and if so, if UTG+1/semi-maniac 3-bet it. So action on flop is I bet, UTG calls, as expected maniac raises, and I 3-bet it (as planned). UTG folded JJ face-up, UTG+1 capped it, I called and went into check-call mode. Interestingly, and unfortunately, another player in the hand at this point said "Bad fold" to the UTG player and pointed at me and said "Ace-ten" and to the UTG+1 said "pocket nines". I tried not to react... Turn and river were basically blanks (I think it was a 7 and maybe another 4, all rainbow.). |

Re: CAZ 40-80 Hand 3
The UTG played his hand very bad. Why didn't he raise your flop bet? Ironically, I think the fact that you bet and three bet showed more strength than simply check-raising the UTG+1. Either way he made a bad fold but I think he would have been less likely to fold if you check-raised thinking you are just isolating and protecting your hand wheras betting out looks like you are betting for value.
I would have capped the betting preflop if I was UTG given the UTG+1 read and your smooth call. |

Re: CAZ 40-80 Hand 3
Forgot to post results:
After check-calling the turn and river, maniac says "nice hand" and turns over 88. After turning over my 99, the UTG/JJ guy got up and moved his seat. I was pretty sure he was going to look me up the next few hands we played and I adjusted accordingly. |
