Bet or check behind turn
Villain is Taggish and c/r turn fairly often. I don't know whats best between betting and checking. Hate to get c/r but don't want to give freecards to drawinghands either. So whats my best play?
Pre-flop: (5 players) Hero is Button with 9 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 2 folds, Hero raises, SB folds, BB calls. Flop: T [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (4.5SB, 2 players) BB checks, Hero bets, BB calls. Turn: A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3.25BB, 2 players) BB checks, Hero ?? |

Re: Bet or check behind turn
bet!
- Dont hand out free cards on a drawy board - That turn is just as scary for him as it is for you. - You have good eq even if behind with 13 cards to improve. - You have no reason to believe that he has an A. |

Re: Bet or check behind turn
Is this what some call "bet to induce a bluff"? I think a checkbehind is valid too, but villain should never checkraise an ace here (cant have big aces because of preflop, should have c/r A7 or A8 on the flop). Checkraising baby aces here would be spew IMO. So his c/r would likely be a hand that we beat at the moment, bet/call seems correct.
I tend to take a free showdown though if UI, because a call on this board would either be an ace or a draw or a made hand that could hardly call a 3rd barrel on this board. |

Re: Bet or check behind turn
You have waaayyyyy too much hand to be concerned about a check-raise. If he check-raises, which he might not, you know exactly what to do since you have a ton of outs. So it's not scary. So don't be scared of it.
On the other hand if you check behind you might hand him the free card he needs to outdraw you. Hell you might be freerolling him if he has 94 or something. |

Re: Bet or check behind turn
Put yourself in Villain's shoes. How happy are you to see that A vs a pf aggressor? He might decide that it adds some stick to a bluff/semibluff, but it's reasonably unlikely to have helped him otherwise.
And in any case, we don't "hate" to get c/r'ed. We have a bunch of outs most of the time. We do hate to give a free card on this drawy board though. |

"Hate" maybe is a little to strong word but I'm definately not happy about it. Sure we have equity to call the turnraise but how do we play the river if it's a blank? |
