Default bought a car with falsified inspection.

i bought a car and the vin on the inspection doesnt match the car.

private person, from a classified, i paid cash.

im an idiot, i know.

i brought it to a mechanic cause the spedo stopped working and he informed me of the inspection deal. do i have any recourse? i bought it thinking that it was at least in good enough shape to pass inspection, but apparently thats not quite true.

is this a buyer beware situtation or is the [censored] who sold it to me liable for fraud or some such?

smart moving asking the internet instead of an attorney. with that said i would recommend the FoodTV forums for the highest quality responses to your question.

Always have a service inspect a used car before you buy. It costs about $100 and obv. is worth every penny.

OP's question is very standard OOT material. You need to lighten up.

i have the title, matches vin on car. carfax says is good. the inspection sticker doesn't match car. i didn't look closely, just seen 05/08. it is a prizm, crappy little car, but all i wanted was something small and good on gas to use to go hiking. i paid 1500, not a whole lot of money, but still...

the mechanic said the speed sensor is 340, plus labor. i'm thinking of telling the guy i bought it from that if he gives me the money for that we're even. if not i go to the police and see if they are interested that he sold a car with the inspection sticker from another car.

i dont know if there was any crime, i think not, i think i should have paid more attention to detail and will have to eat it.

it's really not that big of a deal, but i am pissed that the guy jerked me, and that i let him, you know.

just looking for input...
