Mid Stakes Profitibility and Competition Level
This post is designed to get opinions from winning Midstakes players on the level of competition now compared to online in the past and compared to live. The reasons I ask are selfish but I think other players may be interested. I play midstakes live in the LA area and make a good profit doing so. What I would like to know is, Is online as profitable as Live? Is there still an abundance of gamblers and just plain poor players still joining the games? I get the impression that there are so many 2+2ers and decent players online that thats the majority of the opponents at the table. Have winning players noticed decreases in thier winrate? For those who play LIVE and Online, how would you desrcibe the profitibility between both. I would say all agree that the overall level of play online is superior, but does the average joe and avereage LIVE fish still sit down online at 2/4, 3/6, 5/10NL?
I am considering playing online in addition to Live. |

Re: Mid Stakes Profitibility and Competition Level
Online games have obviously gotten tougher since UIGEA, resulting in lower winrates for most players.
There are still fish, just fewer numbers, but games are obviously still profitable. At mid stakes, certainly 'most' of the opposition is regular players, mostly 2p2ers, of varying skill. As far as profitability, that just depends. You see way more hands per hour online and you can play multiple tables. Online skill levels are obviously alot stronger than live skill levels for the same stakes. A 5/10 game online is going to usually be way tougher than a 5/10 game live. |

Re: Mid Stakes Profitibility and Competition Level
play a local 10/20 NL uncapped game, walk into the cardroom and I'm hands down the best player their, its sick, (not a brag, half of SSNL would be too, people are just actually retarded)
log onto Stars- sometimes (often?) I'm not even the best at the table, (talking midstakes) The difference is pretty sick actually. If you are just starting I would try building a roll from about 4-5 levels below what you play live, to about 1 level below what you play live, and sticking about there. |

Re: Mid Stakes Profitibility and Competition Level
on about the same subject: to people who have played mid stakes at both full tilt and poker stars.. does one seem more profitable/fishy than the other to you?
