Easy call down. If youre folding pairs in this spot youre giving up way too easily. Also, judging by stats, this guy is dumb enough to fire 3 barrels with A high, so you have to call the river.

Free showdown turn raise?

Give him a chance (albeit small) to fold 77, 88?

I doubt that's happening. In a vacuum I think calling the turn is best with the limited read.

Yeah, I generally just call down as well, but I've been kinda looking for spots to use the free SD raise.

I wouldn't look too hard, it's rarely correct against most people that don't fold pairs and will 3 barrel busted draws (or in this case will put a bet in on the river with ace high by check/calling)

Hmmm glad I read this post.. I had been overestimating our equity on these flops and getting agressive with any pair.

Against someone this tight (I put in top 9.7% of hands in pokerstove) your equity is like exactly 50%.

Ironicaly so is your equity against a top 20% of hands distribution.

Is it important to get agressive with your 50% equity type hands in order to give more credibility to your semi-bluffs, as well as allow him to make incorect folds against your hand to not realize his equity?

Or does the value we gain from making him make incorrect folds/having a heavier value betting to semi bluff ratio not enough to offset the amount we lose by getting re-raised?

youve given me some food for thought though with this hand. thnx.

I think in a vacuum calling down this hand is the best way to play it.. as part of an overall strategy im not sure....

I wonder the same thing, Heis. Against players like this I usually just play my hand the most +EV in a vacuum. Against a TAG or observant player I might put a raise in on the turn to make myself harder to play against, but I don't really know how far to take this concept, it's tough to figure out whether the EV gained on future hands makes up for the slight EV lost on the current hand.

Yeah, against someone that's 49.4/12.9/1.26 I worry less about my image/metagame, and more about maximizing EV for each hand.

The only way you'll gain anything from good image/metagame is if you're reasonably sure that villain can put together a coherent thought.

But the reason I posted was that I just wanted to confirm that this was a standard calldown.
