dumb PF question
Live 12 game, playing 8 handed due to a walker.
reads: UTG+1 is a bad-to-mediocre player that generally plays a little loose and pretty passive, but has spazzy moments. MP is too loose but is playing okay right now. LP is mostly unknown to me, but his demeanor and the fact that he hasn't been playing very many hands suggests that he's either a TAG running a bit cold, or is somewhat tight-passive. He's shown down very few hands, though, so this read is not strong at all. button is a megafish - super loose and very passive. BB is a strong aggressive player that reads hands well - his only real weakness is playing a bit too loose PF. the hand: UTG+1 limps, MP limps, LP raises, button cold-calls, and it's to me in the SB with AQo. I'm likely getting 10:1.5 (~6.5:1) on my call, but I'm looking at being OOP against a big field with a potentially dominated hand. If I 3-bet, BB will likely fold but everyone else will probably call. eh? |

Re: dumb PF question
call usually, esp if you are running bad or making bad decisions post flop. raise sometimes, esp if your opponents play bad.

Re: dumb PF question
Strong, aggresssive player in the BB, the rest of them likely have a worse hand than you, it's worth the price of one small bet to try to get the big blind out.

Re: dumb PF question
I think it's close, but I'd call, flop TP, and c/r to get the stragglers out as you have great relative position on the PFR.

Re: dumb PF question
i tend to call here much more often than i 3bet. folding isn't really an option imo.

[/ QUOTE ] I'm not too excited about our equity vs the LP raiser. Sure, maybe he has QJs, or or trying to Isolate with AT, but a lot of people don't make that play. I don't mind having one extra guy in behind us. The pot is already 3 handed when it gets to us. If we call, it's almost def 5 handed. If we raise, it's almost def 4 handed, but LP might 4bet. Hell, one of the limpers might even 4 bet. That happens pretty often. A limper comes in with trash. It comes up 2 bets back to him, his brain short circuits, and he decides to cap it up with his J9o or w/e. In general, I'm not too happy about playing a big pot OOP with big offsuit hands, besides AK which I always raise, or AQ where I will raise from the bb or sb most of the time with loose/poor limpers to me. |

Re: dumb PF question
I don't have a link for you, but I can remember reading a post from Ed Miller about basic pre flop questions and he basically nailed it in the thread
these spots don't come up that often and whether raising or calling is the best play doesn't matter all that much, bc you would make a very small error very rarely these AQ raise or call situations have been beaten to death in other threads and the reason there's been so much discussion about it is bc it's a very close decision therefore, do whatever feels right at the moment and focus on more important potential leaks in your game instead, the spots that come up often, not the rare ones |
