700 bet is good; check gives free cards to flush draws and they'll suspect you of AK AA KK. if he calls here, you're leading for half the pot again with a non-club. with a club, you're check calling. same deal with the river.

Betting out is the right way.
If villain holds AA or a set he will stack off. If he has a smaller PP i think a bet-check-bet is more valuable than a check-bet-bet, cause you more often get a bet paid of on the river. If he has the last K he will call/raise. If he holds a Ace the chances that he catches one are bad. And as mentioned from Mr.WeakTight you have a possible flush-draw on the board. |

I like the half pot bet here...seems to generally extract the most value from his range. If called turn is dependant on what it is & reads...though I hate the c/c line mentioned above if it is a club

Are we really that afraid of the flush heads up? Multiway pot at a full table I understand the concern but to be concerned about that flush heads up seems to be a bit over-protective. More than likely, the club coming on the turn may be the best card for you. If he has the clubs so be it, you still have a re-draw. I would hope that the club comes and weak lead for about 25-30% of the pot and pray for a push by a guy representing the flush.

I would completely discount the flush here. Make it 2/3 pot size on the flop. If he has something reasonable he will call/raise and we prepare a real big pot for a shove. If he folds we wouldn´t have gotten any more money anyway.
While he folded to a 700 bet, he would have folded as well to a bet of 500 and would certainly have checked behind if you checked the flop and folded the turn anyway. => Well played. |
