Stars $3 Multi - AK in a questionable spot
About 35 hands into a $3 MTT on Stars. No substantial reads on opponent, c-bet every flop (3 of them) and hasn't showndown yet. How do you proceed with AK here OOP? More importantly, what's your play on the turn and why?

Re: Stars $3 Multi - AK in a questionable spot
I check fold puke the turn, but I'm a scardy cat.
Mostly I'm scared of the size of his bet... If he were stealing, I'd think he'd bet a little more, as it is, betting just 1/4 pot, I think it looks like he wants a call... In any case, I fold. |

Re: Stars $3 Multi - AK in a questionable spot
This is a 3 dollar (i have a LOT of expirirence at these) so you have to put him on A 10o+, or any pocket pair below JJ as he probably pushes with JJ+. Most times i just push pre-flop with AK as I have a LOT of fold equity in this hand pre-flop as i not only have a coin flip when he doesn't have KK or AA but I can threaten his tournament life.
Post flop I like the c-bet but i think you have to assume he hit this flop or started with a pair when he calls as the board is not that draw heavy ( would he really call there with J 10?? Maybe). I think the 4 on the turn makes folding pretty easy to any show of strength even though 6 to 1 (is my math right?) is pretty good to see a river. This early in the tourny with chips though is a good place to be and would definately make me lean toward a fold. |
