QQ with 3 players left and 1 shorty
B&M tourn. 100+20. Out of 78 people 3 are left the money difference from 3d to 2nd is about a grand. Blinds are $10k/$20k (no ante)
Hero is SB with about $280k BB has about $60k Button has about $350k Hero is dealt QQ Button makes it $50k to go Button has become very agressive since becoming the big stack, stealing blinds at every opportunity. The shorty has played weak tight throughout the day. Hero? If I make it $150 straight, I am basically committed with only about $100 behind. If I make it $100, he is getting 3:1 on a call and might hit a junky K or A. Shove? |

Re: QQ with 3 players left and 1 shorty
Easy Shove.
The only reason you would make it half your stack to go is if you think villian is donk enough to shove back at you, or call you and then you plan on shoving the flop. Basically, if you think that's a better line to get him to put in his chips. Otherwise just shove. A shove also looks like it doesn't want to be called also, so maybe he's more likely to call. If he doesnt call, you just picked up 80k, which isn't terrible either (1/3 our stack). Keep in mind you're pretty short with 14BBs here anyway, look at it that way. |

Sam,
If you aren't RRing with QQ from SB here, then quit poker. Barry PS: Unless you are in dire straights and have to pay the cable bill or something. Still, I probably push. |

Thanks guys. Thats exactly what I did. Ive been doubting myself all weekend for doing so. Appreciate the vote of confidence [/ QUOTE ] Ah, the truth comes out. It's tough losing 1K when AJ hits an A on the flop, but results orientation will get you nowhere, and if anything, there are plenty of other hands to get results orientated about (like if you pushed with 1010 instead, which you should have as well). yeah, you got me. Actually, I was crushed by AA. I know its results oriented thinking, I do it constantly and I can't seem to stop. I am certain that it has cost me thousands by making moves that I should not be making.

Re: QQ with 3 players left and 1 shorty
Ummmm....did anyone do ICM on this?
I mean, it's easy to say shove from a chip EV standpoint. But is it really +$EV? I'm not sure. OP, we need you to provide a few things: 1) The exact payout structure from 1st-3rd. 2) Villain's PF raising range. 3) Villain's calling range of your shove. With that, we can really solve some problems. |

Re: QQ with 3 players left and 1 shorty
Just blindly I think ICM will probably support this. Typically once you get to the premium hands in play, most results are considered "unexploitable" and such as you should be crushing your range for the jam and if they call loose you're +EV, if they fold too tight you're +EV, and if they call with their normal range you're +EV.
I'd almost go with QQ 3-way, especially with this villain's wide wide range here, being an instant push even with regards of icm (if it's not, one would have to be so incredibly tight here three handed that they would have to be blinded down). |
