fantasy football question
Shouldn't fantasy playoff matchups in a head to head leauge play a significant role in drafting your team?
10 team leauge 6 teams make the playoffs... shouldn't I be concerned who my guys are playing against in weeks 14 15 16 to give my team the best chance to win the must win games |

Re: fantasy football question
No, just draft/trade for the best players available. Keep it simple.

Re: fantasy football question
It might be smart wait until after you main players are done with their byes, then try to to pick up the defense that plays against the Raiders or Browns or whichever team put in a rookie QB who's got that deer in the headlights look. As far as the initial draft I would just take the best players available. It would be different if NFL teams had bye weeks during FFB playoffs.

Re: fantasy football question
I start looking at potential playoff pick-ups about midseason. For example, last year I grabbed KC Defense somewhere around week 10 and just stuck them on my bench for the rest of the season - then started them against Oakland in the championship game.
But when you're drafting, that's way too early. Maximize your in-season EV first, go for the little moves later. |

[/ QUOTE ] I totally agree with this for a few reasons... at the beginning of the year, with the modern NFL, forcasting who will have good fantasy matchups in the playoffs is dubious at best. first off, the guy you draft has to not be injured...he also has to still be good enough to be in your starting lineup, and most importantly, the team that you draft him to play against has to still have a weak defense. Last year, I was tarteting off guys who played against the raiders def in the playoffs, and it turned out that the raiders had a top 10 fewest pts against defense last year in fantasy. pretty much i use it as a tiebreaker for my draft, and for midseason moves when everything has shaken out a bit. |
