Another river decision..
20-40 live 9 handed. I have TAG image
UTG limps(TAG), very loose player calls in mp, folded to SB(pretty loose preflop but does seem to be a thinking player) who calls, I raise AhAc, all call. The flop: QhTc4h I bet, UTG raises, loose player calls(he will peal with anything even if raised), SB calls, I reraise, and all call. The turn: QhTc4h6h SB donks, I raise, all fold and SB calls. The river: QhTc4h6hTs SB checks, Should I bet or check? |

Re: Another river decision..
So he calls 2 cold on the flop. Despite you capping the flop he finds a reason to donk the turn. He can't have AhQ, because you have the Ah. He doesn't 3bet the turn. And then checks when the river pairs the board.
I put him on any of these, with no preference yet 1) a small flush, and he can obviously fear the nutflush since he doesn't have the A. And his small flush hates the board pairing. 2) a hand like Kh J, which has a big draw on the turn. In both of those instances you're either behind, or he's not calling your river bet. I just feel like he's got to have exactly AQ or KhQ here for you to be able to bet. And I just don't see those holdings making sense. comments ? is checking behind here super nittish ? |

Re: Another river decision..
It took me a while to understand the action.
The SB has shown an unusual amount of strength by leading into a raiser and 3-bettor on the turn. I don't think he has top pair often and that would be your only major money-maker for getting called on the river by a worse hand. Check behind. |

Re: Another river decision..
It is hard for me to see what hand I would lose too that he doesn't take to 3 town on the turn. ie, what does he donk with? A flush, but doesn't re-raise my raise? Top two pair, queen and 10, but doesn't reraise?
Then he checks the river, why? Hoping to check raise? I suppose he could be trying to take advantage of your aggression. In the end, I think you win but you get no value in betting the river anyway. So check. See his hand. Scoop the pot. |

Re: Another river decision..
If I am confident enough to raise on the turn, I am betting this river.

Re: Another river decision..
There are a lot of players who would play a small flush like this. If you bet and get called I don't think you are ahead 50% of the time. I would check behind.

[ QUOTE ]
If I am confident enough to raise on the turn, I am betting this river. [/ QUOTE ] I disagree. Turn means there are still draws looking to be completed. By the river the draws get no more cards (and won't pay off). Also on the turn hero has overpair and nut heart, so the raise there can still be made with lots of redraw strength. When the redraw is missed I think it has some impact on the hand. |

Re: Another river decision..
I check this river. The only reasonable I can put SB on that we want to bet into is Q6. I think the chance that he has a small flush or a rivered boat (looking for a c/r) is just too high to bet it here.
I agree with rafiki that raising the turn and checking the river isn't inconsistent. |
