$50 NL - Lost playing TPWK on C/R\'d Turn
Villain is in every pot, but I haven't seen him
really get out of line postflop in ~15 hands. Not at home comp, so this is the best I have: Stacks ~$50 (5 folds), ZEN raises (Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]) $1.50, fold BB calls. POT $3.25 FLOP: Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] BB Checks, ZEN Bets $2, BB Calls TURN: 6 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] BB Checks, ZEN Bets $3.50, BB Raises to $7, ZEN Calls(?) RIVER: 9 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] BB Bets $2.50, ZEN ??? I love this forum idea, thanks for any opinions about this hand! -ZEN |

Re: $50 NL - Lost playing TPWK on C/R\'d Turn
Checking the turn to induce a river bluff isn't a bad play. Betting the turn and shows strength. I have found that almost no one at NL$50 will min check raise the turn with air (which, along with Q2 is all you beat).
Having said that calling the turn CR and river small bet is not a huge mistake, especially against a bluffy or unpredictable villain who automatically put you on AK and play 88 like the nuts. Just make a note about what this means because guys like this almost never vary their play. |

Re: $50 NL - Lost playing TPWK on C/R\'d Turn
grunch
i would normally bet a little more on the flop, but given how dry this board is, $2 is probably fine. this might be a good spot to check behind the turn for pot control, especially given the aforementioned dry flop. as played, i can't fold to the turn minraise, especially since this is a blind battle situation. i also can't fold to the small river bet, even though it looks like it's designed to be called (my best guess is a value bet with 6x). |

opponent needs to be BAD for me to bet the turn. you're really not getting value from anything except pocket pairs occasionally (if he's BAD). get used to checking turns with mediocre made hands and picking off bluffs on the river. here i'd probably fold to a big river bet but call a small blocking bet
once he c/minraises you're beat |

If I'm not sure my Q is good, what line better defines my hand? FWIW, not being results oriented, but the opponent's play on the turn got him his 2-outer on the river...so I'm, wondering am I retarded for not pushing harder on the flop/turn, and if so, what calls me that I beat? (and is this opponent a bit more awesome than I give credit for, reading me for a weak Q and trying to push me off it? Thanks to all so far! -ZEN |
