Should you ever double an unknown? 100nl
Villain is unknown and thats the point of this post. Is it ever correct to double here? I feel like he could fold a mid pair. Too optimistic?

My unfathomably vast experience doing this in SSNL has taught me a lesson. "No no no no no no no no no."

[/ QUOTE ] yeah it kinda seems like even tho it may be logically acceptable to put him on a PP and double, it just doesnt seem to be a profitable move. I check folded this time but does anyone ever do this at all? |

Re: Should you ever double an unknown? 100nl
Hard to say.
I predict the end for this hand if you dont tho: Turn-BB checks, hero checks. River=X BB PSB, hero folds. If he's an unknown i guess this is how becomes a "known" when you fire again. Worth betting again for info in futre situations |

Re: Should you ever double an unknown? 100nl
I tend to double here 75% of the time versus damn near everyone as nobody ever folds to a cbet on a paired board these days. Not sure if this is a leak or not at SSNL, but I'd keep betting lots of made hands in my range, and lots of villains will peel a FD oop on the flop but give up on the turn to a 2nd barrel.

Re: Should you ever double an unknown? 100nl
Snipes, I think you have alright reasoning, but this is party poker and the board didn't change much.
If the A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] fell, sure. However this turn card just put out another flush draw for villain to put you on. I typically shut down here. Random party poker villains are never folding a king to a 2nd barrel here, and a lot of monkeys might even call another one with pocket pairs too, and we certainly can't be sure they fold FDs regardless of odds. Check behind and hope for a free showdown or a deuce. |
