Default ignorant floor people

Ok so let me explain; perhaps I'm the ignoramous. I'm playing 1-1-2 spread limit (4-200) - it is essentially NL as the buyin is 40-200. I limper to me and I raise 24o with a big stack. Someone that looks like a regular calls on the button; rest fold. Heads up, flop is 24Qo. I fire 1/2 pot. He raises pot. I reraise. He pushes; I call. Showdown: He shows KQo. I want to muck, but this other regular says "I want to see all hands". So I go no, you cant see all hands, I'm mucking. He demands again and I put them in the deck, but not so well, as the dealer finds them without much problem. So I get pissed at the dealer and say why the hell did you show my hand and he says anyone can see a hand. This hand was heads up the whole way, and these apes are saying anyone can see anything. Floor monkey lady is called and she says the same thing. This happened at Lucky Chances in Colma, CA FYI. BTW, the monkey that demanded to see the hand was a regular. After the fact I go to her to explain to her why she is wrong and she claims that the whole state of Nevada plays with this rule. There is nothing worse than a confident ignoramous. Perhaps this should go in BBV. Oy vey. ... so I think the bad beat was fine in itself, but the IWTSTH tilted the crap out of me.

They have it right, IWTSTH can usually be requested by any player at the table. Some places may not allow this (I don't know of any in AC), but they would be an exception to the rule.

EDIT: I just re-read your post. If you're going to give the other players, the dealer and floor a hard time, you should get to know the rules first. All these people you're calling names seem to know them.

First off, paragraphs. If you don't break it up a little you might as well just skip the punctuation too.

Second off, you flopped two pair, him one. Since you never mentioned what the turn or river were, why were you mucking what is so far the best hand?

Next, I've played coast to coast, including living in cali for three years. There might be an exception somewhere, but I don't know where that would be. Everywhere I've been, the IWTSTH rule has been in effect, and applied the same way. Nothing is different or unusual here.

And yes, or course it's the local jerkoff nits asking to see all hands. Their motivation of course, as always, is to get free information. There was just a huge thread on this very subject, as there is every couple weeks or so (links?). If you recall I referred to the " I waaaaaaaa to see the hand" rule.

Despite how ridiculous, annoying, ill-conceived or antiquated the IWTSTH rule may be, the bottom line is that any player may ask to see a called hand. If you try to get past the rule by touching the muck or any cards other than yours at my table, you will have a very rude awakening very fast. So just follow the rules like everyone else.

As for the ignorant floorperson, they applied the rule correctly. Whether they are actually ignorant or not cannot be determined using the current evidence at hand.

It is like that in the casino where I play the most as well, however there are exceptions.

The way it has been explained to me is that the rule exists in order to minimize collusion. If you are on the table, and suspect two people of working colluding, this is a potent weapon to expose what is going on.

That being said, the privelege can be abused, and at Oceans11 where I play, I've seen players lose their right to "ask to see all hands" because they've repeatedly abused it by askign to see nearly all hands, and taking part in almost none. In fact, I was key in having one little donk's privelege revoked just a week ago, when he'd irritated me with his requests-- the 5th hand in a row.

First, I asked him (at least 2 or 3 hands in a row- yes I was on a rush) if he thought I was colluding. He replied no, but that he had a right to see all hands to see how people play. Next hand, same thing. Next hand, I called floor- and joe-donk had to play in the dark for the next 2 hours. Pissed him off to the point where I literally was able to pluck most of his chips before his final bust. (guess he really did need to see how everyone else played, not that he learned anything from it).

I understand your frustration. It might be worth checking into the casino policy and seeing if they frown on "see all hands" abuse.

Muck your cards irretrievably. If the dealer is too fast for you, and protects the muck, then you have to go for plan B.

Had it used all caps and included an unnatural sexual act the writing style of this post reminds me of the "Joey" posts that were ultimately attributed to Dynasty a few years back

I got taken by surprise in CA (Commerce) as well by a guy who wanted free info. I asked him if he thought I was colluding and he said no. So I told him why the rule is in place and that it is not to satisfy his curiosity. A couple of check raises later he left the table.

In the future if a guy is clear that he is not accusing me of cheating I will call the Floor over so the Floor can see the IWTSTH rule is being abused and hopefully reduce the chances of it happening again. If the Floor basically does nothing then I will be asking to see the a**hole's cards on a regular basis just to get under his skin.

Actually there is one place that is universal in being the exception. You guessed it, Harrah's properties.

They did away with the IWTSTH rule, unless there is a clear case of colusion.

For anyone who didn't know it, that's the whole reason why the rule has existed, to prevent colusion.

Thus, the next time someone asks to see your hand, turn to them and ask .. "So, you think I'm a cheater, that I'm coluding with someone, eh?" You'll get a really shocked look on their faces, as they being flustered try to backpeddle, and ask you why you would say that. You then go into how that's the whole reason why the rule exists, and then say again, so you are in effect, accusing me of cheating if you insist on seeing my hand that I've mucked.

9 times out of 10, they will backpeddle, and say never mind.
