Default Question(s) about The Sopranos

I recently watched Season 1 of The Sopranos and found it to be midly entertaining but overall lacking any compelling storyline. It seemed to be riding on the whole "italian gangster" theme including the dumb as bricks wiseguys and other stereotypes. The relationship between Tony and his therapist was interesting but I didn't really see it progress in any real fashion. It felt like at the end of the season the whole story was basically right where it began. And my favorite character, the grumpy old mom, is obviously going to either be gone or have a lesser role in upcoming seasons.

So my question is, given my opinion on the first Season is there really any reason to watch the others or is it just more of the same?

I hope you're laughing at my being horribly wrong about how often she appears, as opposed to her being my favorite character.

The whole gangster thing/stereotype thing is much more the sizzle than the steak, the show definitely matures and is one of the most well crafted things on television if you stick with it.

There's more of Livia to come as well. I remember at one point I thought the first season was very rough and a little forced, but liked the next few a lot more and eventually ended up loving it fwiw.

If that's how you found Season One, I see no reason why you'd like the later seasons more than that.

Just know that most people loved the first season. That's why we don't know what to tell you.

Because season 3 was wayyyy better than season 1.

Also, while I understand the Janice hate, I thought she was a fabulous actress.

But yeah, no respect for loving the mom. You're supposed to loathe her.

If you didn't think the season was great, the first episode and "College" especially, then yea, just give up.

Also, I hate you.
