kotkis vs. Morrek, 10/20 200xBB deep
I butchered more hands today than I have in a long time so I took it as my job to go through all the big pots and analyze them. While doing this I ran into this one particularly interesting hand which I think might generate some good discussion because I think the crux of the problem is pretty complicated and that's why I'm posting it in multiple parts from different angles.
I'll start out with Morrek's pov that may or may not be what actually happened, and I'll move on once we have reached a consensus on what the right play should be here: Party Poker - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $10/$20 Blinds - 5 Players - (LegoPoker Hand History Converter) SB: $2,092.00 BB: $5,653.00 kotkis (UTG): $4,089.00 CO: $390.00 Morrek: $8,022.00 Preflop: Morrek is dealt J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (5 Players) kotkis raises to $70.00, CO raises all-in to $390.00, Morrek raises to $1,000.00, 2 folds, kotkis calls $930 Flop: ($2420) A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 Players, 1 all-in) kotkis checks, Morrek's plan for the rest of the hand? Reads: I have Morrek at around 28/24 for 6-max, myself at around 27/23 and shorty at around 16/14. Both me and Morrek know each other but no extensive history beyond what you would expect between two aggro regulars . |

Re: kotkis vs. Morrek, 10/20 200xBB deep
Morrek has to represent the ace here if he believes he can make you fold QQ, and he knows that you don't want to bluff raise him as if he folds, your hand will be shown at showdown against CO. So I think betting is by far the superior play as he gets great information, being unlikely that you're going to bluff.

Re: kotkis vs. Morrek, 10/20 200xBB deep
I count 15 combos for AA/AK, 12 for KK/QQ. I guess betting less than 4/5 pot should be profitable?

i'd bluff [/ QUOTE ] trying to bluff out exactly QQ? or do you think he plays KK like this? keep in mind we repop preflop all the time, although this situation is pretty rare I guess. |

Re: kotkis vs. Morrek, 10/20 200xBB deep
kotkis, how familiar is Morrek with your play? What does he think you'd flat call that 4th bet with? If AK isn't a large part of your range, I think Morrek should be betting here a lot becuase he can definitely have AK here and there's enough money in the side pot to make bluffing you out of the pot a good move even if he can't beat the shortstack.
Without knowing that Morrek has JJ, I'd think most of your range would be AK, QQ, JJ, TT and AK is really the only hand you could continue with unless you're gonna try and rebluff him. |
