Default Starter Clubs

I want to buy a basic set of club since renting clubs is getting expensive. I would like any advice you can throw my way. Since I am new I am thinking around 200 bucks is a good price range. What should I look for? How many clubs do I need? Is Dicks sports the best play?

Thanks

I got mine free from a friend...it was his old set. Try that if you have any friends who are golfers and have their last set laying around. I then went on to replace the driver and putter. I'm looking into new wedges now, and will get new irons last.

I'd go to golfsmith and check out their used clubs if you're just starting out, or do what letitbe said and ask a friend. Tommy Armour makes some decent starter sets. You can definitely find good deals on clubs on the internet too. Some stores will price match, so get a good quote online, take it to the store, price match... then you dont have to deal with shipping and crap.
