graphics cards and resolution

i was curious how graphics cards effect how ur picture shows up. i have a geforce 5500 with a max resolution of 1024x768. but my screen calls for a 1065x1050 res. my computer is allowing me to set it to the 1065x1050 setting, but it looks pretty bad. how would a new graphics card effect how my screen appears

Any computer store you go to is going to have vid cards fit to the monitors they are using, see how they look for a comparison.
