what's your reason for doing this/what do you expect him to do?
edit: serious question, not being a dick |

I'd rather call than min-raise. Your line looks like a monster and villain doesn't seem to be retarded.

uhh i'm trying to get him to shove overcards/JJ/QQ?
also, doing this with monsters allows me to do this with bluffs. edit: clearly calling and shoving are worthwhile alternatives. but what are the pluses and minuses of this line? |

[/ QUOTE ] The pro is that stupid players will commit with worse hands than they would vs a bigger raise. The cons are that the your hand looks pretty much like AA/KK/TT/99 and you're holding the bottom of that range. And if villain happens to hold QJ it doesn't protect your hand. Doing this as a bluff goes against the original purpose of doing it with a monster, at least until villain knows you do this with monsters as well. When he knows that he won't be so eager to push OCs etc, probably resulting in your bluff getting called by Tx/JJ/QQ and you having to follow up with a push on the turn to get those hands to fold when you bluff. Problem being he'll probably start calling this min-raise with strong hands as well so now you don't know wtf to do on the turn. All in all I think this play is nice vs overaggro donks, or other stupid players that can't resist calling this min-raise and end up feeling pot-committed on the turn. It's not a play I would try to incorporate vs better players while moving up in limits though. |

I like raising slightly over minimum, but this is fine too.

I prefer a call and shove over a bet on the turn rather than minraise.

If he's aggro enough to shove overs here, isn't he aggro enough to fire another barrel on the turn?

Im with a5 - raising to something like $81 looks so much more bluffy.
