Recommendations To Overcome Tilt
The other night I was playing live 1/2nl. I was up around $350 early into my session when I lost 2 big hands costing me over $400. (2nd Nut Flush & Villan Hit a 3 outer on the river for two pair). I went on tilt hard and ended up losing the orignal 200 i started with very very quickly. Does anyone have any strategies to overcome this, do you go to a happy place after suffering two tough beats?? All comments are appreciated

Re: Recommendations To Overcome Tilt
Exercise. Lots of it. When I was getting pissed off I'd take a break in between hands and start doing abs. I'd wait for my cards, think about what happened while doing my workout. Dead serious. Lots of abs. I take all the agression out on my abs. Its exercise and it helps get the pissed off feeling out your body.

Re: Recommendations To Overcome Tilt
Take a walk from the table and go grab a coke or slice of pizza. Start over from scratch and dont worry about what youve lost, because if you have your original money, you havent lost anything yet.

Taking a friends advice b/c online is the quickest way to build a roll and where I live is 2.5 hours a way from casino. Plus Im lazy. How about you take a stress ball with you or maybe one of those squeeze grips. Don't bust somebody in the head with it if they piss you off. |

Re: Recommendations To Overcome Tilt
100% of the poker players tilt in some way or another and whoever tells you that he does not is lieing to both you and himself.
The only "cure" is to take a few minutes break after every bad-beat that bothers you. The idea is to get to a level when you can shrug off bad beats but everyone has a breaking point. So when you feel steamy, take a break, it`s the only way. The only exception would be if you are on a final table of a tournament because the blinds are too big and you don`t want to miss a hand even though the bad beats hurt the most on final tables. It sucks but you just gonna have to suck it up. [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] |

Re: Recommendations To Overcome Tilt
When I tilt live I tend to go put money in the VP machines. Don't try that. Trust me!!! It rarely helps.

Re: Recommendations To Overcome Tilt
I think you should get in the habit of taking a walk after winning or losing a big all-in confrontation. Either can put you on tilt (in different forms). Getting the blood flowing and not forcing yourself to immediately [and often extremely] shift strategies/gears works wonders. If you get back and are still not into the game, I promise you that quitting, while annoying, is often significantly better than staying.

Re: Recommendations To Overcome Tilt
I used to just get drunk and start playing table games. I figured I wouldn't be giving up as much of an edge as I would be playing poker on tilt.
Now I've quit drinking, but I'm worried I might be on life tilt at the poker tables. Maybe I'll try the mirror thing. Every time I look lately I'm pretty horrified though. |
