small ball poker and full ring cash games?
trying to loosen up my cash game a lot and get away from the TAG im used to playing. I almost always play full ring NLH (usually 1/2 and 2/4)so my question is this. Playing at these limits in full ring games, is TAG the best way to play, or can you play a small ball LAG game to better your profits? I am a winning player at these limits though i feel im not really progressing much in my game with simple ABC tight poker. I just cant get the hang of playing short handed cash games (though im ok at short handed tournies), but it seems very difficult to play this type of loose poker at a full ring game?
Any thoughts? |

Re: small ball poker and full ring cash games?
TAG for full rings.
LAG for shorthanded. At least thats what I do, and then sometimes I do it the other way around and it works, so it depends . Seriously though, I think it depends on your character. LAG is very much a "feel" play and very hard to do it with constant success online. I see it as one of those "you got it or you don`t" qualities. So if your poker destiny was to kick azz LAGing you would have been doing it by now and it would`ve came naturally. I saw an interview with Gavin Smith somewhere and he was talking about this topic. Basically he was saying that you are who you are and you should stick to your guns. Like.. you can`t expect from Gavin to play very tight just like you would not expect to see Harrington LAGing all over the place. And he is right. Hope that made some sense, if not I`ll give it another shot. [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] |

I urge you to read No limit holdem, theory and practice. I'm sure it's what you're looking for. If you have it and have read it, read it again, because you can't have understood it very well
