Default term - Floater

Newbie here, I was reading another forum post and it mentioned another player 'floater' when the flop is small cards, does it mean the other player is holding high cards that missed the flop?

Thanks.

To float is to call a continuation bet with the intention of taking the pot away on later streets.

Scenario: Player A, in mid position open raises preflop and player B on the button calls. They see the flop heads up and Player A continuation bets, which he generally does, again player B calls.

This call is sometimes referred to as "floating". Since player B has position he now has the opportunity to take the pot away from player A on the turn should player A check.

This move is usually done on a board more likely to miss a preflop raisers range or where the preflop raiser might be weak and the floater can represent a strong hand on the turn. So a flop with a bunch of rags is a good one to float. A flop with some good draws against a weak tight (he needs to be able to fold a decent hand) player can also present floating opportunities.
