Biggest and Best Tournaments of the year
Hello,
I was just wondering what tournaments pros and others consider the most important and prestigious ones each year. What is the one tournament you would want to win the most? I think most would say the WSOP Main Event but what about after that? My opinion is it would go something like this but feel free to give your thoughts and why. 1) WSOP Main Event - I think this will always be the biggest one. 2) WSOP Horse Event - This has become very popular in recent years and really determines the best overall player. 3) WPT Championship - The biggest buy in WPT event and the champion of the WPT is crowned. 4) National Heads up - It's on national TV and the pros seem to love it. |

7) WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic (a.k.a. the Doyle Brunson N. American Poker Classic)- Last big LIVE tourney of the year. Mid to late December, $15K buy-in.
8) EPT Monte Carlo- Early April. The Biggest tournament in all of Europe w/ the biggest 1st place prize. '07 Champion Gavin Griffin won $2.4million. 9) Aussie Millions- Early January. Largest tournament in the Southern Hemisphere. Huge field, over 700 runners annually. 10) L.A. Poker Classic- Late February. Perenially, the LARGEST WPT field w/ over $2 million for first place and $1 million for 2nd. |

Re: Biggest and Best Tournaments of the year
Hey,
I decided to bump this because we never really got a good thread going on this a while ago. It seems like all of the big ones are already done for the year. Anyone have any other opinions as to the biggest and best tourneys of the year? |

WPT at any of the Borgata Tourneys. Borgata Poker Open is in one month and the Borgata Poker Classic is in January. Just because that is the only good tourney that comes through Atlantic City.

2) WSOP Horse Event - This has become very popular in recent years and really determines the best overall player. [/ QUOTE ] LOL, it's only been a 50k event for the last 2 years. As for "very popular", less than 200 people have entered it both years, less this year than last year. |

Re: Biggest and Best Tournaments of the year
Good Point Photoc!
Both the WSOP HORSE and the National Heads Up which I had in my original post probably can't be considered the BIGGEST because they get under 200 players but most would probably consider both in the Top 5 as far the BEST and MOST PRESTIGIOUS tourneys of the year. That brings up an interesting angle. Which tourneys after the WSOP Main Event get the biggest number of entries every year? |

The Legends at the Bike does well too. |
